This is just musing, for the record. Not me making any kind of statement, but:

I think it is both possible for someone's behavior to warrant a ban AND for that ban to be objectively stupid and for this to be obvious when pointed out.

An example of this might include "hey Person, stop making NSFW blogs over and over, we keep having to nuke them."

This is not me saying that they shouldn't let predstrogen back on, I think they should, it's just... sometimes, moderating a community is less about "what you did was wildly beyond the pale" and more about "you did so many small things that are close to the pale that we don't have the energy for this any more."

Should that be the case? Usually, no. Is that what happened here? We don't know, and Matt has poisoned the well and then taken at least five lengthy pisses in it, so even if someone told the whole truth we might not believe them anyway.

But it is a thing that does happen, and I can see running a site, having something happen, and really not wanting to have to explain "I was getting so annoyed at this person doing a minor dumb thing oVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN after I, my friends, and even the guy across the hall I hate said cut it out that I was losing sleep so I just dropped the hammer."
